Lipo-6 Black Ultra Concentrate

Lipo-6 Black Ultra Concentrate by Nutrex Research Review – Is It a Good Fat Burner?

What Is Lipo-6 Black Ultra Concentrate?

Lipo-6 Black Ultra Concentrate by Nutrex Research is a fat burner that is made of a blend of ingredients that are known to induce lipolytic and thermogenic action. The main active ingredients of the product are caffeine anhydrous, theobromine anhydrous, citrus aurantium, yohimbine HCL and rauwolscine. These are all ingredients that are commonly used in other fat burning products. It is important to note that all of these ingredients are stimulants, however, and that the label does not disclose their exact dosages.

This product is intended to accelerate fat loss when paired with regular exercise. Simply taking the product in isolation without an exercise routine will not work to burn fat. The ingredients of the product are intended to activate stored fat for use as fuel to support a level of exertion that is above the daily basal metabolic rate of calorie usage. Anyone can potentially benefit from this product, but it will be of the most benefit to those who are having difficulty with their weight loss programs and professional athletes who need to shed body fat quickly.

Manufacturer

Nutrex Research has been in business since 2002 and creates a range of different supplement products. Aside from Lipo-6, some other prominent products in their lineup include the non-steroidal anabolic agent Anabol-5, the pre-workout Hemo Rage, the stim-free pre-workout N-Vein and the testosterone booster T-Up. The company has the claim to fame of being the first in the supplement industry to offer liquid multi-phase capsules.

Nutrex has a team of professional competitive bodybuilders and fitness models that promote the brand, including Anton Antipov, Larissa Reis and Yarishna Ayala. The company is based in the United States, in the Florida city of Oveido, but does not provide information on where the products are manufactured.

How Lipo-6 Black Ultra Concentrate Works?

The core idea of Lipo-6 Black Ultra Concentrate is to mobilize stored body fat to be burned as energy, prioritizing it as the body’s chosen energy source while exercising. When exercising, the body will tend to use glucose and glycogen as its first sources of energy, so it helps to limit the intake of simple carbohydrates (like sugar). This helps force the metabolism to shift to the use of adipose tissue (aka stored fat), which is the body’s most energy-dense source of fuel. The ingredients in Lipo-6 Black Ultra Concentrate are designed to induce lipolysis, or the state in which the body is actively breaking down fat for energy.

In addition to inducing lipolysis, the ingredients in Lipo-6 Black Ultra Concentrate have some scientific backing showing that they induce thermogenesis as well. This is a state in which the body’s metabolism remains elevated for an extended period, causing it to burn more calories for basic sustenance. The rate at which the body burns calories just for basic daily maintenance is called the basal metabolic rate; this is the amount of calories that one needs to take in each day just to maintain their present weight and muscle tissue, even if one is completely sedentary for the entire day. Inducing a state of thermogenesis does increase the basal metabolic rate, allowing one to burn more calories while not doing anything, but this amount will be extremely minimal. The effect is multiplied if one engages in exercise while in a state of thermogenesis, however.
Since these are all stimulant ingredients, they will also provide an enhanced feeling of energy, motivation and mood that will help users to initiate exercise and stay motivated to work out for longer periods. Stimulants act directly on the central nervous system to reduce fatigue, increase alertness, and improve mood and focus. They also have something of an appetite suppression effect.

With all of these effects, it is important to note that dosage makes a major difference. While all of the ingredients in Lipo-6 Black Ultra Concentrate do have clinical studies showing that they induce at least one of these listed effects, the studies that support them use doses that may be higher than what is present in this formulation. Lipo-6 Black Ultra Concentrate uses a proprietary total blend of 294.5mg. Since these products generally contain a minimum of 80mg of caffeine per serving, if not more, it is possible that the other ingredients are dosed at a level below where they have shown clinical effectiveness. This will be discussed further in the “ingredients” section below.

Ingredients of Lipo-6 Black Ultra Concentrate

According to the official website, this is the strongest LIPO-6 fat burner formula ever released.

Caffeine Anhydrous – Caffeine belongs to the methylxanthine class of central nervous system stimulants. It is technically a psychoactive drug, but is not as strong as other types of CNS stimulants. The stimulant effects primarily increase alertness and give the user a sense of energy and motivation. Caffeine is the most frequently used stimulant in the world for this purpose. A number of scientific studies have also shown that it improves memory recall, though it does not seem to have an effect on enhancing the ability to learn new information. Additional studies have shown that it is an ergogenic aid, improving athletic performance in a variety of both aerobic and anaerobic sports. Finally, caffeine is also a mild thermogenic, though it does not have a significant effect on its own for this purpose. It is more effective at synergizing with other types of stimulants to increase thermogenesis, particularly theobromine and synephrine.

The effects of caffeine are highly individualized, and a tolerance to it will build with repeated use. There is no universally standard dose in fat burning products, but a commonly seen dose is 100mg, or just a little more than the content of a cup of coffee. With the proprietary blend on the label, we are unable to tell exactly how much caffeine is in Lipo-6 Black Ultra Concentrate , but it is likely that caffeine represents at least one-third of the content of each serving. 300mg of caffeine is generally considered a safe upper limit per serving, and with a total label content of only 294.5mg, the caffeine content here should not cause problems for anyone but the most sensitive to it.

Theobromine Anhydrous – Theobromine is a substance that naturally occurs in the cacao fruit as well as in a variety of other types of plants. The body will actually produce a small amount of theobromine on its own as it breaks down caffeine. Theobromine and caffeine are related alkaloids, and theobromine has a similar stimulant effect, though much milder than that of caffeine. When supplemented together, however, the two substances synergize such that theobromine enhances the effectiveness of caffeine and extends the duration of its effects. Theobromine has an extra methyl group as compared to caffeine, which means that it takes longer for it to be cleared from the brain, and this effect is thought to be extended to caffeine when they are taken together.

Studies that have paired very high doses of theobromine (250 to 1000mg) have found greatly diminishing returns as the dose increases. Again, we cannot tell exactly how much theobromine is present in this product due to the proprietary formula, but it is likely at a much lower dose of 50mg or less. This dosage range has shown to be more effective when paired with a larger amount of caffeine.

Like caffeine, theobromine really doesn’t have a direct effect on fat loss. What it does is enhance the energy and motivation provided by caffeine to inspire you to get up and get to the gym.

Advantra Z® Citrus Aurantium (50% p-Synephrine) – Synephrine is another alkaloid that is found in the leaves of a wide range of citrus trees. Citrus aurantium (also called “bitter orange” or “sour orange”) is a specific type of citrus fruit that synephrine is often extracted from due to its high concentration. Advantra Z is a proprietary type of citrus aurantium extract manufactured by Nutratech Inc. Synephrine became a common fat burner ingredient when ephedrine was banned by the FDA; it functions in a similar way, but the FDA has not labeled it as unsafe and it is completely legal to sell at present.

The marketing of Advantra Z claims that it stimulates the metabolism, improves uptake of amino acids into muscle tissue, stimulates lipolysis and thermogenesis, and has a mild appetite suppressing effect. Most of these claims are backed up to at least some degree by general scientific research on synephrine, though these studies did not necessarily use Advantra Z specifically.

Synephrine is actually one of the most well-studied stimulant ingredients commonly used in fat burners, as research has been done on it since it was first synthesized in 1930. Research indicates that it does indeed elevate the basal metabolic rate, stimulate lipolysis, impair the alpha receptors in fat cells that contribute to fat storage when they are active, and increase the amount of calories burned in order to process incoming food. A small amount of appetite suppression has also been seen, likely attributable to the increase of adrenaline and noradrenaline that synephrine triggers. Synephrine also appears to have some synergy with caffeine, improving the effects of both substances.
The doses at which clinical studies have seen effective results have tended to be in the range of 10 to 50mg, and this range is also considered to be relatively safe for anyone to consume. There are some questions of safety if larger doses are taken, however. With the proprietary blend of Lipo-6 Black Ultra Concentrate, we cannot be entirely sure how much synephrine is in the mix.

Yohimbine Hcl – Yohimbine is an extract from the bark of the Pausinystalia yohimbe tree that is native to central Africa. It was used for many years as a stimulant to awaken animals from sedation after veterinary procedures before it started to become popular as a weight loss ingredient. The “hcl” stands for hydrochloride; this is simply a particular method of extracting the yohimbine from the bark.

Several studies have shown yohimbine to have a lipolytic and thermogenic effect, though the evidence leans more strongly toward thermogenesis. Given the data from these studies, the standard dosage that is considered both safe and effective is 0.2mg per kg of bodyweight. As with the other ingredients on the label, we cannot be sure how much yohimbine is present due to the proprietary formula, so the dosing here is questionable. It is generally advised to dose yohimbine in small amounts initially to assess tolerance, so this may not be the best product for those who have never used it before.

Rauwolscine – Like all of the other ingredients in the Ultra Concentrated Fat Destroying Complex, rauwolscine is a central nervous system stimulant. But it also aids in weight management by blocking the alpha-2 receptors in the body that store fat when they are active and restrict stored fat from being released.

Rauwolscine is actually chemically very similar to yohimbine, and the extract “alpha yohimbine” is sometimes made from it. There is some synergy with caffeine, and also some synergy with yohimbine that helps to even out people who experience jitters or anxiety on it.

Glycerin – Glycerin is a sugar alcohol sweetener. Unlike some sugar alcohols, it is caloric, but is not present in quantities here that add any significant amount of calories.

Vegetable Cellulose – Vegetable cellulose is a stabilizer used in capsules that is an insoluble fiber. The amount of actual fiber content is minimal; it is usually used more as an alternative to gelatin so that the product can be labeled as not having any animal byproducts.

Polysorbate 80 – Polysorbate 80 is a common emulsifier and is used as a shelf stabilizer.

Hypromellose Q.S.P. – This is another emulsifier that is commonly used as an alternative to gelatin.

FD&C Blue 1, FD&C Red 40, FD&C Yellow 6 – These are common food dyes used for coloration.

Advantages

As mentioned previously, a fat burning pill does not simply burn fat without any added effort. It is meant to be used as a complement to a healthy diet and regular exercise to help speed up the process of losing fat. Diet and exercise will still do the bulk of the work, but the fat burning process will basically be accelerated by a small percentage by adding a solid supplement such as this one.

In addition, since the product is almost entirely a blend of central nervous system stimulants, users can expect a variety of mental enhancement benefits such as improved energy, reduced fatigue, and better concentration, memory recall and focus.

The ingredients that are included in this mix all have a good amount of clinical study and are generally considered safe and effective. The only question is the dosing, since everything is hidden behind a proprietary blend.
